Floral Puzzle HD 1.10 posted to the App Store

A new puzzle mode has been added, "Drag and Drop". In this mode, rather than sliding tiles you pick them up and drop them into place. I found this to be the most interesting way to play so I made it the default mode for new users.

I also added an option for 120 pieces. A new UI for selecting puzzle options gave me room to add this option.

The app is now coded to work with iOS 4.2.

More updates coming...

Version 1.05 posted to the App Store

My camera is back in service and Ying and I took some photos this weekend for the app. Version 1.05 is posted and should be in the App store soon. It includes 60 photos now for the free version and 166 photos for the paid version. Also included is a new ability to save the images to your iPad photo library. If you have a favorite image you can use that to create a lock screen or home screen wallpaper. I'm also experimenting with a "tier 2" price for the paid app which is $1.99 in the U.S. and similar amounts around the world according to Apple's pricing policies.

Thanks you to the folks that have downloaded and taken the time to review the app. The app is sort of a hit or miss, some folks really enjoy it but it is not the sort of thing you want if you are into first person shooters of course. All feedback is welcome and appreciated.

Version 1.04 is in the App Store

Per Michelle's request in May, I added two new options to Floral Puzzle HD to allow for 63 or 80 pieces. This definately makes solving the puzzles in "free" mode much more interesting. For some reason the update to the paid version whizzed through the app store approval process in just three days (I've been used to this taking about a week). The free version has the same change and should be in the app store soon also.

For those that are curious, the free app has received around 3,500 downloads in the initial three months. The paid app has sold around 200 copies in the initial three months. Thank you all for trying the app out and for the great suggestions to improve it.

Updates to Floral Puzzle HD

Version 1.01 is in the app store now! This version includes a Play/Peek toggle to allow you to see the completed puzzle. The full version is displaying an odd behavior in that once completed, the puzzle image goes black. You can press the Peek button to see the image, but it certainly was not an intended feature to have the screen go black. Fortunately a fix is on the way in version 1.02.

Version 1.02 is posted to Apple and will be in the store upon completion of the app review process. This is taking about a week currently. The new version includes an image gallery and a sound on/off toggle. Thanks goes to my app reviewers for the feature ideas! The black screen issue should be gone with this release also (it doesn't show up in my development build).

Floral Puzzle HD is now in the app store.

Floral Puzzle HD Lite has climbed up to #44 in the free game chart!

Oops! I left a bug in the code so switching between Free Move and Slot Move modes is awkward. You have to exit the app and reenter to switch back. An update has been posted and will be in the app store soon.

Floral Puzzle HD Lite and Floral Puzzle HD

I'm in the process of submitting my first iPad apps to the Apple App Store. This blog will be used to support the products.

Floral Puzzle HD Lite is a free version with 42 images.

Floral Puzzle HD is the full version. It is the same program as Floral Puzzle HD Lite except that 64 additional images are included for a total of 106 images.

I recommend trying out the free version before making the purchase.

Here is the description for Floral Puzzle HD Lite:

The classic tile puzzle with 42 beautiful floral full screen images free! Look for "Floral Puzzle HD" for 64 additional images.

Choose to play with 12, 20 or 30 tile puzzles in "Free Move" mode which allows you to swap tiles freely. These puzzles can be solved casually within minutes.

Choose to play with 11, 19, or 29 tile puzzles in "Slot Move" mode, which is the classic tile puzzle where each move can only go into the open space. These are much harder to solve.

* Images are full screen and look fantastic on your iPad.
* Works in both landscape and portrait.
* Includes a quick shuffle animation feature.
* An animated "bounce" effect acknowledges the selected tile.
* Press the "New Puzzle" button for a randomly selected new puzzle image.
* Press the "Shuffle" button to restart the current puzzle.
* The state of your game is preserved when you exit the app.

This free lite version contains the full game play features of the full version. Search for "Floral Puzzle HD" to purchase the non-lite version with 64 additional images for a total of 108 floral images.

The images in this application were photographed by the program author, Don Schuy and his wife Ying Schuy, from their own flower garden and from local nurseries in the area surrounding Woodinville, Washington.

Enjoy!
